When the Kpop waves strikes the rest of the world, no doubt that it brings their style of food along. I guess 1 of the most popular must be their Korean BBQ and in Malaysia, there are plenty of them to choose from. While most of them tend to be the same, Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ proves to be the unique one.
That’s because they uses Apple as their main ingredients throughout the whole cooking process. Sounds interesting now?
Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ
Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ is located at Taman Desa, just right opposite of Taman Desa Medical Centre. It’s nearer to the Old Klang Road exit.
This place is pretty new, having said in their Facebook page mentioned it was opened on 2 September 2017, but have since garnered a lot of hype.
They have indoor seatings with the usual smoke suction, and also outdoor seatings which I prefer.
The food in Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ
We went on to order their Apple platter, which comes with a few meat selection, namely Samgyupsal (Pork Belly), Moksal (Pork Chop) & Hangjungsal (Pork Cheek). All of them are marinated overnight in Apple sauce for at least 20 hours and smoked with Apple wood chips.
As for their Banchan (Side Dishes), they have the cabbage marinated with Apple as well as other common Korean side dishes. It’s free refill and you can head over to their Banchan station for self-serve.
If you happen to order their Ramyun too, their Ramyun is also free refill where you can just grab as many packets as you want and cook it over at your table. How cool is that?
Instead of stove fire, the BBQ is done using charcoal fire and using a ceramic top plate for excellent heat distribution and retain.
Once the meat is cooked through, you can just cut them into bite size pieces and wrap with ingredients to your liking. I have to say the meat is definitely a high quality one as you can feel when you bite through them.
The sausage is also wonderfully seasoned and fragrant as it’s homemade by them.
This combination of Korean BBQ with Apple is really quite well paired together, as Korean BBQ tend to be savoury and the acidic taste of Apple help to cleanse the palette and kept you eating throughout the meal.
