Gangnam88 Korean Restaurant, also known as Korean No.1 Restaurant serves up variety of popular Korean cuisine, such as BBQ selections like Galbi BBQ, Samgyeop BBQ, or the Moksal BBQ. There are also kimchi soup, rolled omelet, Pajeon, & Bibimbap selections. As for their street food selections, they serve Ramen (Ramyun), Tteokbokki, and variety of Korean Street Food, namely, Jjamppong, Jajangmyeon, and Jajang Rice.
These are all popular Korean dishes that most of us would want to eat, or at least try for once in our life. With this being said, what could possibly sounds better as Gangnam88 offers variety of packages that you can try the Korean dishes that you want but at the same time, saving some money.
Gangnam88 Korean Restaurant offers set like Gathering set that you can have Fish Cake Hot Pot, 4 types of BBQ, Cheese Rolled Omelet, Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Cheese Squid Rabokki, Mushroom Pajeon & Kimchi Soup, recommended for 7 to 8 pax of person at RM338.00. With that amount of food selection and portion, alongside with refillable side dishes, it does sounds like a good option if we were to have a huge gathering amount friends or hanging out with colleagues after work, as Gangnam88 does serve alcoholic drinks too like Soju and Makgeolli.
Gangnam88 is available is 2 locations so far, 1 is at Solaris Mont Kiara and the other outlet is situated at Sunway Giza Kota Damansara instead. I visited the branch in Solaris Mont Kiara and it’s such a painful place to get a parking. So it’s advisable to head down to the basement parking instead.
The space and layout at the Solaris branch is quite spacious and cozy. All around are decorated with much KPop girls and boys band, as well as celebrities.
Also, ladies wouldn’t have to worry about their hair going to smell after the BBQ session, because BBQ is ordered and made in the kitchen, hence when it’s served, it’s already ready to eat. Although I would prefer grilling them myself. However, the food is surprisingly tasty. We ordered the Galbi BBQ, oh god, so damn tasty with the marinade and its sweet, smoky taste.
Next up, is the Budae Jjigae or known as Korean Army Stew. In this dish, the broth is made of kimchi and korean red pepper paste, then variety of ingredients are added into it such as ramyun, American Spam meat, Sausages, Ham, Chicken pieces, tofu and so on. The combination of sour from Kimchi, sweet and spicy from the red pepper paste and the savoury from the meat and ham, serves in the piping hot soup and perfect comfort food, Ramyun – isn’t it perfect?
The Kimchi soup might look unattractive, but trust me, with the slender pork bits in the soup, you won’t stop once you taste it.
