Located in a humble alley in Taman Desa, Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ Taisyu Yakiniku have been running for some years and it’s quite popular with fantastic reviews about them.

Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ Taisyu Yakiniku is situated in an empty spot in the middle for the surrounding shoplots. While it’s not fancy, but it have the perfect settings for grilled meat using charcoal.
This place is packed during dinner time and if you’re in during the peak hours, you can find yourself in the waiting list. So it’s best that you get to this place before 6:30pm or after 7:30pm.
The outdoor seatings is perfect for meat grilling over the charcoal fire. Upon order, they will place a furnace beside your table and fill it with burning charcoal.
What to order in Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ Taisyu Yakiniku?
They have a wide selection of meat from their menu, from beef, pork and lamb. There are also different part of the animal to choose from. So if you fancy part like tongue or stomach, you’re in for a treat!
The menu also have cooked food like ramen, fried rice and side dishes. Perfect while you’re waiting for the meat to cook over the charcoal fire.
I ordered their pork belly, inside leg, shoulder loin and also ribeye. The portion is generous and meat is quite thick itself. You’re assure of a succulent bite.
Once the meat is served, you can then grill them on top of the furnace to your own liking. You can also season them with salt and pepper to your own appetite.
Over the meal, they will serve you 2 sauces. 1 is the common grill meat sauce that you’ll find in Japanese meal. It’s garlicky and slightly sweet and the other one is a green Chilli sauce that give a good kick.

The Yakisoba that we ordered is spot-on! Although they used different type of noddles for this, but it does have the Japanese Yakisoba flavour in it and the wok smoky flavour is amazing!
I also ordered the Teppanyaki Fried Vegetables. The vege are crunchy and full of the teppanyaki flavours. Perfect to go along with your grill meat in 1 bite.

Price Range: Each meat selection is about RM 10 – 15 which is pretty reasonable with its portion. My overall bill is about RM70 inclusive of drinks.
How to go there: Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ Taisyu Yakiniku is quite near Faber Towers. It just take 2-minutes of walk if you park around the proximity.
