Okay, joke aside, Jin Man Fishball Noodles Restaurant 金满满 (正庄西刀鱼丸)at Taman Taynton, Cheras have been serving fresh, handmade fishballs from fresh whitefin wolf-herring (ikan parang).

They have been doing it for 25 years and counting. Probably the reason why the breakfast & lunch crowd is crazy every single day at this branch.

As mentioned, this restaurant is situated at Taman Taynton, Cheras. For non-Cheras folks, that means it’s right opposite area of Leisure Mall. Along the stretch, you’ll saw a lot of old shop lots filled with small restaurants, grocery store and cyber cafes.

In Malaysia, we usually have Hor Fun (Thick Rice Noodle), or Mee (Yellow Noodle), or Mihun (Thin Vermicelli Noodle). However, when you visit Jin Man Fishball Noodles Restaurant 金满满 (正庄西刀鱼丸), you’ve to order Chou Mian (Thick Wantan Noodle) which is the texture is absolutely delicious.

Go for the dry version, as they mixed it with small bits of crispy, savoury fried pork fats that elevate the taste of noodle and harmonise the mild tasting fishball.

With your noodle order, you’ll be served with a bowl of 5 fishballs, that’s the default amount. You, of course welcome to add-on more if you like it. The fishballs are made with fresh whitefin wolf-herring (ikan parang), which the meat tend to be firm & bouncy after cooked through. It’s so bouncy, it literally “jump” & “bounced” when you try to bite them in your mouth.

The soup is also mildly seasoned with salty vegetables bits, which leave you a refreshing aftertaste of the soup, or you called it broth.

They also serves other type of fish products, which is this famous Fried Fish Cake. Shaped in rounded, almost like a flat plate form, it’s also freshly made from the same ingredients as the fishballs.

Crispy, thin skin on the outside with the firm, bouncy texture of the inside. Together dipped in the slightly sour-tasting chilli sauce, made of garlic, I believe. This is going to leave you wanting more. The extreme difference of the textures and the fresh tasting ingredients is what made this Fried Fish Cake so good!
