Kuroshio Market serves fresh, made on the spot Japanese food, ranging from sashimi choices to cooked food such as tempura and udon. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, it’s situated neatly within Greenhouse by Muir along Jalan Ampang. Just beside Glenneagles Hospital. It might be a little hard to spot if you’re on the other side of the road, but Greenhouse by Muir is right opposite of Great Eastern Mall.
Kuroshio Market at Greenhouse by Muir
Kuroshio Market is 1 of the 6 tenants in Greenhouse by Muir. Greenhouse by Muir itself hosts several different restaurants and bar. They even have a bakery as well as a florist in there. Kuroshio Market is situated at the ground floor of the building and just right behind the reception table.
It’s a self-serve concept Japanese restaurant, hence you may choose what you want to eat over the food area and pick up the number/ID of the food that’s shown on the menu board. Thereafter, you make your payment over the counter. The waiter will then serve the food where you’re seated.
They have quite a number of items in their menu, both fresh sashimi and cooked food. Fresh sashimi selection encompasses fish selection from salmon to tuna. You can also opt for fresh seafood such as crab and prawns that’s alive in the aquarium on display. While their cooked food offers variety of fried food such as tempura, also grilled skewers as well as udon and soba.
What I Ate?
Signature Chicken Tonkatsu Bowl – The Chicken Tonkatsu is made fresh upon order. When it’s served, it’s still hot and full with steam vapor. The chicken outer skin is crispy and crunchy with it’s seasoned batter. While the meat is still juicy and tender. Topped with it’s signature sauce, the sauce tasted a little salty and sweet. It’s quite unique to the tastebud. Serves with Japanese rice, it’s quite a heartwarming bowl.
Soft Shell Crab – This soft shell crab is crazy good! If you like it as much as I do, it does not over fried and still retain the juicy crab meat in there. The crab tomalley, often called as crab fats are still very much retained in it and taste just like the fresh ones.
Salmon Sashimi – 1 word, fresh! Salmon is sliced in a thick cut, giving it quite a bite, but it’s not chewy at all. With the rice cooked to perfection, I must say, it’s a high quality piece of Salmon Sushi for you to enjoy.
Vegetables Tempura – Made fresh upon order, you know it’s not going to disappoint you.
Overall, the food itself is very tasty and delicious tasting. Paring with the cozy interior and exterior of Kuroshio Market, you’ll be sure to enjoy your meal time, surrounded with all the greens and plants.
